Sympathetic joy
[one of the Brahma viharas]
is rightly understood when
we see that there's no
difference between people,
that we're all a part
of whatever is momentarily
existing in the world.
So if one of these parts
experiences joy,
then its joy has come
into the world and we all
have reason to share in it.

- Pema Chodron
