Remembering Roshi Sojun Mel Weitsman

From a student of Roshi's: Once in dokusan Mel made the comment to me: “The universe will take care of you.” I remember thinking at the time “That sounds really pretty silly.” Little did I know that those words and the sentiment behind them would comfort me countless times. As my practice deepened and matured over the decades, so too did my shared understanding of what Mel meant. Now I find myself saying the same thing to others on occasion -- a sort of "dharma transmission" from Mel.
